The Helen McCann White History Research Library has relocated into downtown Lindstrom, at 12795 Lake Blvd, Lindstrom, MN, on the south side of the street, one door east of Gordy's Cards and Gifts. Click here for a map.

Research Library Hours:
The History Research Library is open three days a week, year-round. Please call us to arrange an appointment if you need access at other days or times.

New Facility in 2017:
Our new location has a large meeting area that will accommodate small groups of 20 to 30 people. Our facility is available for use by school groups and other educational programs. Free on-street parking and WiFi access are available.

Our Research Library has been expanded and reorganized to help locate resource materials more easily. Individual tables and our large conference table provide convenient areas to work on your projects. We have a computer projection system that can be used for making presentations.

A high-speed Kyocera copy machine is available for your convenience. It provides high-quailty copies, up to 11"x17" for 25 cents each. New document scanners have been added and allow our staff to digitize pages up to 38" in width.

Our new digital microfilm system provides high-quality printed output for 25 cents a page. We can add pdf files to your USB memory card if you bring it along. Or we can email files to your email address. This state-of-the-art system was financed in part by a MN Historical and Cultural Heritage Grant.

Our free on-site WiFi service allows you to connect to the internet during your visit.

Our outlying historical displays and museums are open during the summer tourist season.

CCHS participates in numerous community events throughout the county. Various small collections are displayed at the Chisago County Government Center and are changed periodically throughout the year. Our History Exhibits building on the county fairgrounds is open during the summer fair and other local events. This is also the location of the first YMCA lodge build in Minnesota, the Cheewin Log Lodge which sits adjacent to the main building. The historical society also participates in other community events throughout the year. Watch our Upcoming Events page for details.

Our online indexes have been moved to a new web page. Please click here or the button to the right to visit that page. Brief descriptions are provided of each index. These pdf files can be downloaded and searched using the Adobe Reader program.
Our Facebook group:
Our Facebook group allows us to expand our ability to support your research inquiries. When you join (it's free), your messages will reach other people who share a common interest in our local events and history. Click the "Find us on Facebook" menu button to the left!

Additional research help:
For extensive research projects we will refer you to local professional genealogists who are specialists in this area. Rates vary from $35 per hour for non-members to $25 per hour for CCHS members. There is a one-hour minimum.

A basic membership in the historical society will quickly pay for itself. With a basic membership you also receive our quarterly
Chisago Heritage Journal!

If your call rolls over into voice mail, please leave a detailed message and advise us of your preferred appointment date and time. Be sure to leave your name and a contact telephone number where we can reach you.

Research requests may be submitted via email. Please be specific as possible about names and dates regarding your request. There is generally no fee involved for simple requests by CCHS members. Please allow two weeks for our response.
